Director Charles Fugate chose to "focus not on the magnitude of battle or the death and pain war inevitably brings, but rather on the relationships between Sarah/Frank and the men and women around her." Slides of the civil war played on a screen to set the scenes in a real civil war environment. This makes lighting even more important, as I have to balance the chorus and the projections effectively.
